Intersectional Psychotherapy
& Mental Health Counseling
in New York City
At Wove Therapy, we believe every person deserves a therapist who genuinely understands them — not just their symptoms, but their whole story. A deeply inclusive practice in Midtown Manhattan, serving individuals with intersecting identities.
A Therapy Practice Built for Every
Version of You
Founded in 2018 and located in the heart of Midtown Manhattan, Wove Therapy is a psychotherapy practice designed for anyone who has ever wished their therapist worked harder to truly understand them. We specialize in intersectional, compassionate care for adults 18 and older — especially those with marginalized, overlapping, or underrepresented identities.
The name Wove reflects what we do: we weave together your experiences, histories, identities, and relationships to help you understand yourself more deeply. Your race, gender, culture, sexuality, immigration story, and lived experiences are not footnotes to your mental health — they are central to it.
We are proud members of Inclusive Therapists and supporters of the Mental Health Liberation movement. Our practice operates with an anti-oppressive, anti-racist, and liberation-oriented philosophy that puts your humanity first.
Wove Therapy provides exceptional mental health care with an intersectional, affirming, inclusive, and anti-oppressive lens. We center both clients and clinicians with marginalized identities — because representation in the therapy room changes everything.
Realness
Therapy for the people, by the people — no jargon, no judgment. We show up fully, and we invite you to do the same.
Depth
You are more than your symptoms. You have a history, layers, and a deep self worth knowing. We go there with you.
Community
We build a shared space where clinicians and clients with marginalized identities are centered and celebrated — not despite their identities, but because of them.
Anti-Oppression
We name and actively work against the systems of oppression that affect mental health. Your healing exists within a social context, and we honor that.
Mental Health Services Designed Around You
Wove Therapy offers two core service areas for individuals and mental health professionals alike. Whether you're beginning your therapy journey or seeking specialized support as a clinician, we have a place for you.

Every therapist at Wove has been carefully selected for their commitment to intersectional, affirming, and culturally responsive care.
The practice is led by Alpana Choudhury, LMHC, Founder and Director, who established Wove in 2018 with a vision of mental health care that centers equity, depth, and radical inclusivity. The clinical team is supported by supervisors Turhan Moody, LMHC and Karina Aquino, LMHC, ensuring consistent, intersectionally-informed care across the practice.

What is intersectional therapy?
Intersectional therapy recognizes how your multiple, overlapping identities — including race, gender, sexuality, class, immigration status, and more — interact to shape your mental health and lived experience. What happens in a therapy session?
Therapy at Wove is a relationship built on trust and curiosity. You'll meet with your therapist at least once a week for 45-minute sessions, exploring your relationship to yourself, others, and the systems you exist within — using conversation, reflection, and evidence-based techniques tailored to your goals.
What if I can't afford therapy?
We maintain sliding scale fees and a limited number of reduced-fee slots. If our fees are still outside your budget, we won't turn you away — we'll help connect you to free and low-cost mental health resources in New York City at wovetherapy.com/resources.
